Poker Nuts Identification Routine

Once you understand what conditions need to be met for a specific hand to become the poker nuts, the question is: How can you use this knowledge to identify the poker nuts in a live playing situation?

I have come up with the following routine to do this and it has saved me some money, trust me!

The idea is to first check for the obvious (like pairs) and then gradually move down to the more complex issues (like straight potential)

How to determine straight potential (plus examples)

When looking at the board, it is sometimes difficult to check whether a straight is possible or not and whether it can be the nuts (see my post on determining the best poker hand and check for poker nuts potential).

Here are some examples to show you how to determine whether a straight is possible. Each example begins with a full Texas Hold’em board and is followed by an explanation.
